Kohn Research Scholarships at Masaryk University

One of the strongest trends in the world of higher education today is the move to increased cooperation across national borders. Of particular importance in this respect is the need for young scientists and scholars to gain experience and undertake research at universities outside their own countries. In order to promote international cooperation in these fields, Masaryk University has established the Kohn Research Scholarship programme. The scholarships are named after Pavel Kohn, the former owner of much of the property where the new Bohunice campus of the university is situated (for information about the campus please click here).

Who can apply?
Kohn Research Scholarships are open to citizens of the United States of America and of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Applicants must be currently enrolled in doctoral degree or research-oriented Master’s programmes. The scholarships are intended to allow their recipients to carry out their studies or do research at Masaryk University and to contribute to the activities of the departments where they are received. They cover all fields of teaching and research at the university.

What does a Kohn Research Scholarship cover?
The scholarships have a value of 10,000 CZK per month, and are awarded for periods from three to 10 months, depending on the nature of the research or studies that the applicant wishes to pursue. Scholarship holders are exempt from tuition fees. Accommodation, to be paid for by the scholarship recipients, is available in double rooms at the university halls of residence. Travel costs and health insurance are also the responsibility of the scholarship winners.

Applying for a Kohn Research Scholarship
There is no fixed application deadline, so the interested candidates are encouraged to send their application throughout the year.
