UNU-WIDER, Helsinki (Finland)

World Institute for Development Economics Research of the United Nations University (UNU-WIDER) undertakes policy-oriented research in development econonomics, organizes postgraduate training on selected topics, and promotes the dissemination of research findings.

We are seeking to appoint Research Fellows (UN grades L-3 to L-5) to at least two resident positions in Helsinki, Finland. The vacancies are open to both early-career and more experienced economists.

The appointees will be expected to: 1. Design, undertake, and co-ordinate research in one or more areas of the Institute’s research programme. 2. Contribute to the management of the Institute’s activities, including the development of research projects; the organization of meetings and conferences; and fund-raising activities.
3. Assist with dissemination activities, including the organization of book launches and the preparation of material for the media. 4. Be responsible, as required, for training, supervision, and other academic activities in the area of her/his speciality within the Institute’s approved work programme.
