Dear Colleague,
I am writing to seek your assistance in identifying candidates for the Joseph B. and Toby Gittler Prize to recognize scholarly contributions to racial, ethnic, and/or religious relations. The $25,000 Prize, which includes a medal and a lecture at Brandeis University by the recipient, will be conferred during the 2008-2009 academic year.
The recipient of the Joseph B. and Toby Gittler Prize will have produced a body of published work that reflects scholarly excellence and a lasting contribution to racial, ethnic and/or religious relations anywhere in the world. Recipients do not need to be American citizens or reside in the United States. The deadline for the submission of nominations is April 15, 2008.
Nominations should not exceed 1,000 words in length may be submitted online at http://www.brandeis .edu/gittlerpriz e or mailed to Gittler Prize Committee, Brandeis University, 415 South Street, MS 100, Waltham, MA 02453.
The nomination should include both the nominator's and the candidate's names, current affiliation and contact information; an explanation of the rationale for the candidate's selection, and a list of the candidate's most important scholarly works relevant to consideration for the prize. A biographical statement or the candidate's curriculum vitae may be included, but is not required.
