Conference: Queering Central and Eastern Europe, SSEES/UCL, London

*Queering Eastern Europe: National Features of Sexual Identities*

This one-day conference devoted to the study of non-normative (or 'queer') sexualities in Central and Eastern Europe is a forum to reflect on the diversity of issues and approaches in this new research areas. The scarcity of scholarly work concentrating on this region, in queer theory, in studies of gay and lesbian experience in the past and present, and in the sexual politics of the marginalized, is a significant gap which we hope to begin to fill. Speakers include: Adi Kuntsman (Liverpool), Mark Cornwall (Southampton) , Dan Healey (Swansea), Djurdja Kne¾eviæ (Zagreb), Anna Gruszczynska (Aston), Francesca Stella (Glasgow), Nicola Mai (London
Metropolitan) , Robert Kulpa (SSEES), Joana Mizieliñska (Warsaw).

School of Slavonic and East European Studies, UCL, 11 April 2008 16 Taviton St, London, 9.00-17.00
