FLUID MECHANICS: aerodynamics of fans, kites and spray dryers and blood flow; wind and water turbines. ACOUSTICS: building acoustics, automotive acoustics, sound quality, environmental acoustics

FLUID DYNAMICS and AERODYNAMICS
A number of opportunities are available in experimental and computational fluid dynamics. We are currently investigating the biofludi mechanics of human blood flow and breathing; the aerodynamics of gas turbine test cells; the low pressure gasdynamics of pulsed chemical vapour deposition reactors; traction kites for sail boarding and kite surfing; micro-hydro power generation and jetboat propulsion.

Projects linked directly to industry are common and new projects are evolving all the time. Please email me for the latest project list.

We have open and closed circuit wind tunnels, a water tunnel, laser Doppler velocimetry and stereo PIV equipment, hot wire and pressure probe equipment and 3 and 6 axis force balances. We also have FLUENT and CFX CFD solvers, ANSYS and GAMBIT meshers and SolidWorks, and Beowulf parallel cluster.
