Post Doc in Seafloor Imaging and Visualisation, Uni Bremen, Germany

*Research scientist in seafloor imaging /data managing and visualization *

The MARUM Center for Marine Environmental Sciences at the University of Bremen seeks to hire an individual with strengths in hydroacoustics and in visualizing 3-dimensional data.

Applicants should either hold a Ph.D. degree in geosciences or related physical sciences, or should have long-standing experience in industry. Comprehensive skill in one or more of the following areas is required: (1) processing of multibeam echosounding data, (2) adaptation and development of visualization software, (3) efficient data management of large bathymetric data sets, and (4) experience in GIS work. The successful candidate will cooperate in the planning and execution of research cruises as well in post-cruise data handling and vizualization.

The position is within the "Marine Technology" group of the Cluster of Excellence "The Ocean in the Earth System". The researcher will be working in a team of scientists, technicians and graduate students using high-resolution seafloor data e.g. from multibeam swathmapping, sidescan sonar systems and others installed on research vessels, AUVs and ROVs. The candidate should be willing to participate in marine research cruises.

We offer a TV-L E13 position for two years with a possible prolongation for up to two years - under the condition of job release -.
