Job description
This PhD project consists of linking a model (available within IMOB), which is able to map the transportation demands of individuals and families, with a yet to be developed environment capable of modeling land-use. Within this project a virtual application with respect to "light rail" will be developed that can not only model future transportation demand but also evolutions with regard to new establishments and new activities. The environment that will be developed is based on existing models and techniques that will be calibrated specifically for Flanders
Profile
The candidate must have affinity with quantitative research methods en must have at least a broad interest in software programming. Interest and experience within an OO-development environment is preferable.
Diploma
Master Civil Engineer, Master Statistics, Master Mathematics, Master Commercial Engineer (in Business Information Systems), Master Engineering Sciences, Master Informatics, Master Transportation Sciences, or an equivalent degree. Senior students are also encouraged to apply.
Offer
It concerns a PhD scholarship which is situated within the IWT-SBO (Strategic Basic Research) project "Organizing Rhizomic DEvelopment along a Regional pilot network in Flanders". The candidate will be appointed for a period of 2x2 years (with an evaluation after 2 years). The starting date can be negotiated.
