IARC's mission is to coordinate and conduct research on the causes of human cancer, the mechanisms of carcinogenesis, and to develop scientific strategies for cancer control. The Agency is involved in both epidemiological and laboratory research and disseminates scientific information through publications, meetings, courses, and fellowships.

Postdoctoral Position
The Genetic Epidemiology Group investigates environmental factors involved in cancer in human populations and their interaction with genetic factors, with the aim of contributing to primary prevention of cancer. These objectives are achieved through collaborative international epidemiological studies, which integrate epidemiology and genetic methods in a multidisciplinary approach. A postdoctoral position is immediately available to join the Group to work on several large multi-centre studies concerning the genetic epidemiology of various cancers with an emphasis on lifestyle factors and their interaction with genetic susceptibility. The successful
candidate will also have the opportunities to develop new projects on the molecular epidemiology of rare cancers including childhood cancer as well as planning future multistage studies based on whole genome scans.
This position is initially for one year with possibility of extension for one further year and is suitable for candidates who have a Ph.D. or equivalent training and a solid background in epidemiology, bioinformatics or biostatistics. The stipend is approximately 25,000 Euros per year free of tax, and travel expenses to Lyon will also be covered. The primary working language at IARC is English.
Applicants should send a CV, including list of publications and a description of previous research experience, as well as the names and addresses of two academic referees, to:
