Graduate student positions vailable in the area of Applied Mathematics

The successful applicant(s) will follow a phd program at the School of Aeronautics,
Polytechnic University of Madrid, supervised by J.M. Vega and/or C. Martel from the Applied Math group, in Applied Math problems arrising in Fluid Dynamics, using analytical (perturbation methods, bifurcation and dynamical systems theory) and/or numerical tools. And will work in one of the following current projects of the group, funded by Spanish goverment and Aeronautical industry include:

(a) Derivation and analysis of amplitude equations to analyse instabilities in complex flows;
(b) analysis and design of thermal MEMS for cooling CPUs;
(c) boundary layer transition and control;
and (d) Aeroacoustics.

The initial appointment will be for one year with a possible extension of two to three years.Applicants should have a degree in either Applied Math, Engineering or Physics. Previous experience in Fluid Dynamics/numerics would also be beneficial.
