The aim of the project is to elucidate the impact of maternal dietary intake of carcinogens and immunotoxicants on the unborn baby and implications for the child's future health, using transcriptomic and proteomic analysis to identify and apply biomarkers for carcinogenic and immunotoxic risk.
Requirements

Required education/skills: University Graduate MSc in Biology, Medical Biology, Biological Health Sciences or a comparable background or degree. Experience with gene expression technologies and data analysis. Independent worker but also a team-player. Well trained in speaking and writing in English

The Nutrition and Toxicology Research Institute Maastricht (NUTRIM) is an interfaculty research institute of the Faculties of Health Sciences and Medicine of Maastricht University (UM) in co-operation with the University Hospital Maastricht (azM). Within NUTRIM 15 biomedical, clinical, and behavioural- science departments co-operate in the implementation of scientific research projects in the fields of nutrition and toxicology and in the education of PhD-students. NUTRIM participates in the Graduate School VLAG (Food Technology, Agrobiotechnology, Nutrition and Health Sciences), accredited by the Royal Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). NUTRIM also participates in the Wageningen Centre for Food Sciences (WCFS) www.wcfs.nl, one of four Leading Technological Institutes established on the initiative of and with financial support from the Dutch Government. WCFS is an alliance of research and food industry partners to carry out strategic and
non-competitive fundamental research regarding the mechanisms involved in food functionality.

Employment basis: Temporary for specified period
Duration of the contract: 48 months
Maximum hours per week: 38
Additional conditions of employment:
Your salary would be € 1.933,- gross per month in the first year up to € 2.472,- gross per month in the fourth year, PhD-student salary. Every year an evaluation will take place.
