2008 Call for Environmental Research Ideas

You are invited to submit your transportation and environmental research ideas to the Center for Environmental Excellence by AASHTO via the Transportation and Environmental Research Ideas Database (TERI).TERI is a "one stop" location for keeping track of transportation practitioners' research ideas across the environmental spectrum. TERI has become a valuable resource for organizations that fund, conduct, and utilize research. Over the last two years, an estimated $1.5 million in research originating from TERI ideas has been funded through the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) alone.

You can access TERI at: ( www.environment. transportation. org/teri_ database ) and view the research ideas submitted since TERI was established in 2006.

This year the Center will be working over the summer with AASHTO's Standing Committee on Environment (SCOE) to select and refine a group of the best ideas listed in TERI. Priority research ideas will be developed into NCHRP-style problem statements and promoted by SCOE for inclusion in national research initiatives.

In order to submit your research ideas, please use the online suggestion submittal webpage: ( http://www.transpor tation.org/ ?siteid=89 ).

The Center is accepting TERI research ideas through Wednesday, April 23rd. The webpage conveniently lists the focus areas for which research ideas are sought, and provides a template to submit research ideas. In addition to submitting your own ideas via the webpage, we hope you will share this notice widely with your colleagues and ask them to submit ideas.

Thank you for helping us identifying the most promising research ideas.
