The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Local Funding Partnerships program is designed to forge relationships between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and local grantmakers to fund promising, original projects that can significantly improve the health of vulnerable people in their communities. Projects must be new, innovative, collaborative, and community-based. Significant program expansions - into new regions or to new populations - may also be considered. In a collaborative effort to encourage youth (ages 14-24) to contribute to the public dialogue on pressing social issues using the power of the internet and user-generated content, USA Today, the United Nations, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have teamed up for the Fourth Annual FYI € ¦’¶ Film Your Issue global competion. Awards and prizes vary, including: Internships at USA Today, the United Nations, the award-winning PBS Series "P.O.V.", and the Humane Society of the United States; a $5,000 college scholarship from the Gates Foundation; the opportunity to have the film broadcast on Starz; distribution by the Associated Press to its 1,800 Online Video Network media outlets; profile on MTV News and at the NAACP annual conference; VIP Pass/film presentation at AFI Silverdocs; the Walter Cronkite Civic Engagement Leadership Award, and Eleanor Roosevelt Humanitarian Award; and more.
