*Gifted Education has two specific programs: *
1. A program of mass education oriented towards the discovery and development of natural abilities and potential for all children
2. A specialized program of inclusive education for children with special needs of education – among which we fiind children with special needs of education because of genetic, social, economic or cultural reasons. This category includes: children with physical or intellectual handicap, children with single parents, orphans; children with a cultural handicap (emigrant parents or relocation challenges); gifted & talented and high potential children, children with special abilities which have a high social risk for underachievement and lack of social integration (see for example: Recommendation 1284/1994 of the Parliamentary Assembly, Council of Europe
and REPORT on education for gifted children, Report of the Committee on Culture and Education, Rapporteur: Mr HADJIDEMETRIOU, Cyprus, Socialist Group); children coming from high risk social and economic environments (parents with handicap, alchoholic parents, children raised by grandparents, children / parents with incurable deaseases, families with a standard of life below poverty, etc).
Since the majority of children has special needs of education, there is a clear need of programs of education geared towards an inclusive education to address their education needs.
Gifted education represents an inclusive and also differentiated education to addresses the specific needs of children with programs which include the tryad: teacher – parent – child on counseling - parenting – teacher Talent Discovery programs – abilities and apptitudes developmwnt- enrichment curricula, mentoring, tutoring, acceleration - Vocational and Career development and other programs oriented towards the special needs of education for every child.
