American Water Works Association
Thomas R. Camp Scholarship

Sponsored by Camp Dresser and McKee, Inc., the Thomas R. Camp Scholarship provides support to outstanding students doing applied research in the drinking water field. It is awarded to doctoral students in even years and Masters students in odd years.

You are eligible to apply if you are pursuing a graduate degree at an institution of higher education located in Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, Mexico or the United States.

Applicants are considered without regard to color, gender, race, creed or country of origin.

Application Deadline: January 15. 2009

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants are eligible to apply if they are pursuing a graduate degree (either masters or doctoral) at an institution of higher education located in Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, Mexico or the United States. Applicants should anticipate completion of their degree requirements no sooner than December 1, 2009.

Applicants must submit:
• Official application form
• A 2 page résumé (that includes educational history)
• Official transcripts of all university education
• Official GRE scores sent directly from GRE Testing Center (quantitative, analytical, and verbal), or a photocopy of the official report.
• Three letters of recommendation (one of which must be from the academic or research advisor).
• A 1 page statement of educational plans and career objectives demonstrating or declaring an interest in the drinking water field
• A 2 to 3 page proposed plan of research

A selection committee from the American Water Works Association' s University Student Activities Committee, and Camp Dresser and McKee Inc. will evaluate the applicants. They will select the scholarship recipient based on the excellence of his or her academic record and potential to provide leadership in applied research and consulting in the drinking water field.

The American Water Works Association reserves the right not to award the scholarship for any year in which an outstanding candidate is not identified.
