ARI MOVEMENT is organizing the first Black Sea Youth Forum Summit that will take place in cooperation with the German Marshall Fund of the United States in the premises of the Sisli Municipality on 5 November 2008.
Latest political activities in the Black Sea region put the region in first place of the global political agenda. The shift of Post-Soviet countries to the democratic regimes from the pro-Russian dimension brought together the involvement of global forces into the area.
We argue that the inclusion of young people will strengthen collaboration possibilities and provide creative solutions to various frozen conflicts. Young people are the future decision makers and opinion shapers of these countries, and the creation of a youth forum in the Black Sea region will provide lively and energetic debate which could possibly provide and promote peaceful civil participation in the coming years.
In line with the Summit's aims 15 young participants from Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Ukraine, Armenia and Turkey have been chosen through an essay competition. The first two days of the summit will be compromised of workshops on democratization obstacles, NGO activities and young people's role in the region.
Opinion leaders, NGO and government representatives, BSEC authorities, country delegations, media and academia will be invited to participate to the last day of the Summit in which the Summit Declaration, prepared in the workshops, will be announced and the awarded essays will be introduced. Experts on the topic are invited to present their views at this panel.
The Summit will take place on 5th of November, in Sisli Municipality's Conference Room on the 15th floor between 10:00 – 16:00
