Phd position: Novel therapeutic vectors towards the therapy of uveal melanoma, Nottingham Trent University

Uveal melanoma has been chosen as a model to engineer a highly innovative immunological vaccine, which can be readily adapted to other cancers. In order to trigger immunity via antigen presenting cells, the team has identified HLA-DR1 and HLA-DR4 restricted peptides derived from Tyrosinase and p53 as novel immunogenic antigens. Unfortunately, peptides on their own show low immunogenicity. This project will look to assess and optimise immunisation strategies using a novel peptide vaccine delivery system constructed from nanoengineered scaffolds. The results from this study will provide a highly innovative approach to the formulation and delivery of immunotherapeutic cancer vaccines.
