CfP: Time and governance [deadline: 31.12.]

Call for papers - Time and Governance

The new online journal Re-public invites contributions for its upcoming special issue titled "Time and Governance". Time has been for too long a relatively "hidden" concept in mainstream discussions about politics, more often presupposed rather than clearly articulated. With the advent of globalization studies, time has emerged as a central focal point of contemporary social and political transformations. The issue aims to explore the multiple intersections between time and politics in the attempt to rethink democratic theory and practice. Possible topics include:

* Non-linear, non progressive notions of time
* Virtuality, "real time", instantaneity
* The politics of risk
* Globalisation and the compression of time
* Time and political decisions
* Time and the organization of work
* New feminist movements and the politics of time
* What lies beyond the notion of progress
* The politics of memory

Essays should be approximately 1.000 words long.
