PhD Studentship in Sustainable Development - University of the West of England and the University of Bristol

Funded PhD Studentship -Safe and sustainable cities The relationship between the built environment and social behaviour in a Fire Service context.

This three-year full-time PhD studentship provides the opportunity to work on a multidisciplinary project investigating the relationship between social behaviour and the built environment in order to examine and inform the practice of Avon Fire and Rescue Service (AFRS). The project will investigate the experience of residents in a variety of communities in the city of Bristol and their relationship with AFRS. The project provides the opportunity to work closely with AFRS and will aim to reduce the social and economic impacts of fire-related crime and nuisance in the region.

This PhD will be based in the Faculty of the Built Environment at University of the West of England, and is funded under the Psychology theme of Great Western Research. The project will be supervised by a multidisciplinary team from University of the West of England and the University of Bristol, and will build on recent research developments in the fields of both Psychology and the Built Environment.
