Full time 3-year PhD Research Studentship
By combining academic excellence with professional relevance, The City University London prepares 11,000 students for the world of work - 40 per cent at postgraduate level, and 50 per cent from outside the UK. A strong research culture enriches the learning experience and accounts for our growing influence on the markets we serve.
Applications are invited for a PhD Research Studentship. The research will investigate the effect of different linguistic properties - lexical, prosodic, semantic, and syntactic - on repetition span. It has implications for relations between language processing, knowledge and memory in typically developing children and children with SLI. The project addresses psycholinguistic questions, drawing equally on theories and skills in psychology and linguistics.
This project will suit a Masters or BSc/BA graduate with a background in speech and language therapy, psychology, or linguistics. The candidate should have previous research or clinical experience in working with children, and strong skills in logical and analytical thinking.
