“Youth Diversity via Intercultural Dialogue”
International Training Course
Baku, Azerbaijan

Training Course Description:
This Training Course aims to bring together young people from different partner organizations for the promotion of their achievements, reducing the sense of alienation and empowering them with the skills to recognize that they can be active agents of change. This project is based on the results from a co-operation, which started in before and this cooperation is aimed to strengthen the partnership and the achievements and develop the links between EU countries and EECA countries.
The Training Course will be based on four key themes:
•Rights – Raising awareness on the right to equality and non-discrimination and on the problem of multiple discrimination
•Representation – Stimulating debate on ways to increase the participation of groups in society which are victims of discrimination and a balanced participation of men and women
•Recognition – facilitating and celebrating diversity and equality
•Respect – Promoting a more cohesive society
Aim and Content:
The Training Course aimed at deepening and explores the concepts and issues related to diversity in Europe from the perspective of young people. Another and not less important aim is to provide support for the EECA countries to involve them into the European life through friendship, cooperation and partnership in future projects made up during this Training Course.
During the Training Course the participants will discuss positive ways to learn about different cultures and how to participate fully in the identification of culture which will affect their lives. The definition of training standards and guidelines to promoting anti-discrimination and equal treatment principles
•A methodology that balance the emotional and cognitive developments of the learning process
•Key concepts surrounding cultural, ethnic religious and social identities, stereotypes, prejudices, oppression and discrimination, individual and collective action; equal treatment legislation in Europe
•Support of the personal experience while illuminating the systemic
•Group dynamics as a way to improve interpersonal communications
•An ongoing reflection from researchers, educators and NGOs on emerging trends, social changes and their impact on anti-discrimination curriculum development.
Aims and Objectives:
· To experience other cultures to increase tolerance as well as to strengthen inter-cultural dialogue.
· To create atmosphere of common understanding between people representing different cultures, working styles, etc
· To deepen and clarify the meanings and relevance of the concepts of diversity in the context of human rights and participation of young people.
· To build new partnerships between Program countries and partners countries from Eastern Europe and Caucasus region to create new project ideas within the YOUTH in Action
· To identify ways of associating and involving young people, from the broad spectrum of social and cultural diversity, in the campaign.
· To analyse and discuss the threats and obstacles to equality and diversity experienced by young people in Europe.
· To discuss the current situation of the European countries and explore the possibilities to address the discrimination, influencing the young people
Target group:
· Applicant youth leaders, Youth workers, Youth Trainers, Project managers from youth NGOs, Youth Group, Youth Networks, Youth Organisations
· leaders that want to apply in the YOUTH IN ACTION Projects in the future
· Youth NGOs, Youth Group, Youth Networks, Youth Organisations that wants to apply for this project to their National Agency to host it in Baku, Azerbaijan
Conditions:
The training is scheduled for late in July 2008 and will be hosted in Baku, Azerbaijan Republic. Financial support is seeked for under the European Commission’s “Youth in Action”-programme granting scheme. If approved, all costs will be covered except for 30% of the international travel and visa costs. Organizations from all 27 EU member countries plus Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland and Turkey, YOUTH IN ACTION PROGRAMME countries are eligible to apply and EECA countries to take part. The working language of this Training Course is English.

All European Union countries, plus Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland and Turkey are eligible to apply for this project. That’s why we are looking f or applicant organisations
Time plan and venue:
Submission: 1st February 2008, submission of the application form under Youth in Action Programme
Date of the Training Course: July, 2008
Venue: Baku, Azerbaijan
Group and duration:
Group: 2 representatives from 1 Youth Organisation, Youth Groups, from 10 countries chosen in an open call.
Duration will be 6 full working days (plus 2 more days: arrival and departure)
Next Steps:
If you like the idea and the content of the activity, and if you want your organization to apply for this project and thus be entitled to nominate for participants, then let’s start to WORK, we have already wrote draft application form, We just need to make all the last changes and to apply. So that’s all to make it successful.
We will do OUR BEST to host this TRAINING COURSE in Azerbaijan.
