Publication and Research Collaboratives - The Quadrant Project
The University of Minnesota Press and the Institute for Advanced Study at the University of Minnesota announce a new initiative of Publication and Research Collaboratives the Quadrant Project funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The Press and the Institute will host four Publication and Research Collaboratives which will focus on innovative and interdisciplinary work in the areas of Design and Architecture, Environmental Sustainability, Global Cultures, and Health and Society.
As part of this initiative the Mellon Foundation is funding up to four external fellowships of up to one semester to individuals who will participate in the collaboratives for the academic year 2008-09. Fellowships will be for up to $30,000. Successful fellowship applicants will be in residence at the Institute for Advanced Study for the tenure of their fellowship and will have the opportunity to work directly with university press editors in developing their work.
This fellowship will be submitted to the University of Minnesota Press for publication through its standard peer review and faculty committee approval processes. The fellowship may not be used for work toward a degree. To apply for the fellowship, please submit six copies of the following:
- Research proposal (no longer than 1,500 words). Describe the research or creative project that will be undertaken during the period of residence. Indicate the Publication and Research Collaborative with which you wish to be affiliated. Include a discussion of how participation in the Quadrant project would advance the project.
- An abstract of your proposal (200 words).
- A curriculum vitae.
- In addition, ask three people familiar with your work and this project to submit letters of support directly.
Review of proposals will begin on January 4, 2008.
