Description:
The Artificial Organs Laboratory at the Department of Surgery of the University of Maryland seeks applicants for a post-doctoral research associate position. The lab conducts translational cardiovascular research as well as the research and development of blood-contacting artificial organs. The research activities are carried out within a multidisciplinary team consisting of engineers, clinicians, surgeons, residents, and students (please visit our webpage http://medschool.umaryland.edu/artificial_organs for details).

The successful candidate will work on multiple NIH funded research projects, with a focus on blood biocompatibility and biologic responses to biomedical devices.

Qualifications: The applicants are expected to have a PhD degree in engineering or biology or biochemistry. We are interested in individuals from the areas of blood biocompatibility, biomedical devices, blood chemistry and platelet functions. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in using biochemical assays and flow cytometry for studying blood. The ideal candidates shall have strong leadership skills and contribute to the growing bioengineering research at the University of Maryland Baltimore.

The position is available immediately and will remain open until filled. Sponsorship
