2010 ACYPL Young Political Leaders (YPL) Program

The United States - Indonesia Society invites applicants for the 2010 ACYPL Young Political Leaders (YPL) Program.

Delegates to the United States from Indonesia will participate in a two-week program designed to provide opportunities to study United States government as well as foster relations between and among the next generation of political leadership in Indonesia and the United States. The delegation will travel first to Washington, DC for a series of meetings with US federal government officials, then to two American states to discuss issues in local and state government. Throughout the program, there will be opportunities for open discussions among the delegates on their experiences with
governance and its inherent challenges, on civic participation, international relations, and other topics selected by the delegates themselves.

All elements of the program in the United States, including travel, accommodations, meals, and cultural events will be covered by ACYPL. Transportation to the United States from Indonesia for this program will be covered by ACYPL. Other expenses such as phone calls, laundry, and other personal items will be the responsibility of the delegates.

The participants will come from both local and national governments to allow for a variety of perspectives and to demonstrate that, to be effective, a spirit of cooperation must exist at all levels of government. Delegates will be
selected to ensure a balance in political representation, geography, and gender within the delegation.
