The aim of the conference is to contribute to faster EU integration of the Western Balkans states, and Macedonia in particular, by providing policy options and recommendations in the field f energy efficiency and renewable energy. The conference aims to provide the link between good policy research and academy. It is part of a wider project ("Think and Link" Regional Policy Programme; */Energy policy, EU and the Western Balkans: challenges of reforms and accession - Republic of Macedonia as a case study/*) that researches the progress of Macedonia in approximation with the EU standards in selected policy field - energy sector, by conducting in-depth qualitative policy research and preparing products and outputs which would be both user-friendly for all stakeholders and adhere to the highest methodological standards in policy research. */The focus will be on /**/Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies/* as cross-cutting issues in the region of Southeast Europe both in the process of energy production and energy consumption.
This conference will closely focus on South East Europe as a specific region including both developed and developing countries, on the speed of implementation of the Road Map for energy efficiency, as one of the priority areas of the Energy Community Treaty and on renewable energy solutions and practices in the scope of better energy efficiency on local, national and regional level.
Whilst, our aim is to represent a wide spectrum of disciplines and approaches, we strongly encourage comparative and multi-disciplinary perspectives, and welcome proposals using new research methodologies. The conference invites graduate and postdoctoral students in Humanities, Social and Natural Sciences, as well as young professionals with sound academic backgrounds, to submit original research papers _including but not limited to the following themes_:
