PhD position: Optical quantum information processing: Generating the Optical Cat state (Due: 26 February 2010)

The objective of the research project is to experimentally investigate new quantum information systems based on quantum optics. By using the fundamental quantum properties of light, it is possible to make ultra fast computers the so-called quantum computers.

The ambitious and ultimate objective of the research project is to design and construct the first quantum processor using the quantum mechanical wave properties of a light field. In this project, the so-called Schrodinger Cat state of light will be used to enable quantum computing.
