The project is embedded in the scientific program of a laboratory group (head: Prof. Georg Hecker) with a focus on cell death in host defence. The project itself will analyse the molecular events during mitochondrial apoptosis, especially in the activation of the Bcl-2-family proteins Bax and Bak by BH3-only proteins. Experimental approaches will include work in cellular models, in yeast as a model organism and cell-free systems such as isolated mitochondria.
Technically, a spectrum of methods from molecular biology, biochemistry and cell biology will be used. We are looking for a qualified and motivated colleague (preferentially masters or diploma in a related area).
