Post-Doc: Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland

The School of Communication and Computer Sciences at Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland together with the Novartis Institute for BioMedical Research (NIBR), Basel, Switzerland is inviting applications for a postdoctoral fellow in the field of Computational Drug-Target Identification.

The position is funded by the Swiss Initiative in Systems Biology (SystemsX.ch) and
is hosted by the systems biology group of Dr. Koeppl at the Laboratory of Nonlinear
Systems, EPFL. Goal of this interdisciplinary project is to assess the feasibility
and performance of rule-based modeling approaches for applied pathway modeling and
for in silico drug intervention analysis. The case study considered is the TOR (Target of Rapamycin) signaling pathway in yeast and mammals. Planned steps are – (1)
documentation of known TOR-pathway-related events in a formal and executable
representation utilizing rules, (2) equipping those rules with kinetics through
literature mining, dedicated measurements and calibration algorithms and finally
(3) validating the rule-based description in perturbation scenarios and identifying
optimal intervention points through a generalized sensitivity analysis.

We are seeking outstanding candidates with a firm mathematical and computational
background as well as experience in dynamical modeling of biochemical reaction networks.

The candidate may hold a Ph.D. degree in computer science, applied mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, bioinformatics or biochemistry. The position will initially be filled for one year and is extendable upon positive evaluation. The yearly gross salary amounts to CHF 90k. Candidates should send their publication list and CV including at least three references per email (in pdf) to:
