PhD Studentship in Pharmacogenetic influences in HIV disease Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics

A 3 year PhD studentship, funded by EACS is available within the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics (Dr P Spiers and Dr M Hennessy), Trinity College Dublin and Department of Genitourinary Medicine and Infectious Diseases (Professor F Mulcahy), St. James Hospital to work within an established HIV research group.

The project will investigate the influence of genetic polymorphisms on lipoproteins/ triglyceride homeostasis and responsiveness to lipid lowering therapies in HIV infected patients.

The position will be funded at €16,000 per annum plus academic fees for 3 years. Students will register with the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics at TCD. Successful applicants will have a primary degree (minimum 2.1 honours or equivalent) in a biomedical or related science. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who has good communication skills and an ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. It is anticipated that the studentship will commence January 2007.
