PhD Studentship, Structure/function studies of bacterial DNA remodelling proteins, Univ. of Nottingham

A fully-funded three-year PhD studentship (to start in October 2007) is available in the Centre for Biomolecular Sciences (CBS), the University of Nottingham, to investigate various aspects of structure/function relationships of bacterial DNA primosomal and remodelling proteins.

Students should have a keen interest in structural biology and/or biochemistry/molecular biology. The successful student will benefit from extensive training in protein-DNA interactions, protein biochemistry (protein over-expression, purification, mutagenesis), molecular biology (cloning techniques, gene complementation) and protein crystallography.

This studentship is suitable for a highly motivated, dedicated, independent and ambitious student who is predicted to obtain a first or an upper second class degree in a relevant area of life sciences. They will join the two dynamic and well supported groups of Drs Panos Soultanas and Max Paoli.

Due to funding restrictions, this studentship is only available to UK/EU students.

Applications, with a detailed CV and the names and addresses of three referees, should be sent to Dr P Soultanas or Dr M Paoli, Centre for Biomolecular Sciences, The University of Nottingham, University Park, Nottingham, NG7 2RD.
