Since 2005 when it first took place, it has gone through a number of changes, yet its aim remains the same: to establish relations with foreign art schools, to enrich current instruction at the Institute of Art and Design and above all to enable both Czech and foreign students to meet and work together. ArtCamp offers them an opportunity to take part in various
art courses, to gain or deepen their knowledge and skills in many different fields of art, to meet interesting Czech and foreign artists and also prepare themselves for entrance exams to art universities.

Every year, ArtCamp offers a wide range of art courses including both traditional ones (e.g. Drawing, Painting, Illustration, Bookbinding) and the most modern ones (Digital Drawing and Painting, Video Creation, Intermedia Art etc.) which are one or two weeks long, usually in two versions suitable for beginners and advanced students. Depending on their focus and interest, ArtCamp participants choose their own combination of courses and length of their summer studies at the Institute of Art and Design. Led by local and visiting professors, Czech students work together with their international colleagues on common assignments. Instruction is held in small groups, usually in Czech , English or German language.
