USA: Hauser Global Scholars Program for LLM, New York University, NY

Hauser Global Scholars is one of the most prestigious honors awarded to L.L.M students. In its first eight years, it has provided scholarships to 92 individuals from every continent and 34 countries. The scholarship program offers a fully-funded year at New York University Law School to outstanding applicants. The program provides a foundation for the interchange of ideas stemming from different legal systems. Founded in 1995, it is the leading initiative pursuing the adaptation of United States law schools to an increasingly global perspective.

Eligibility Requirements
Must be a graduate of law school outside of the United States. Scholars are chosen on their intellectual and leadership abilities and their capacity to participate productively in a global community of scholars and practitioners. Selections are made on the basis of outstanding academic merit without regard to financial need.

1. Students must submit the regular L.L.M. application (including a personal statement) and three essays: Briefly describe a current legal dilemma, controversy, or issue facing a country, a region, or the world and suggest a strategy you would use to address the problem (500 words);
2. Describe the most gratifying experience in your legal education and career (250 words);
3. List two ways you would expect to contribute to NYU School of Law as a Hauser Global Scholar.

If students are not awarded the Global Scholars Award, they will be automatically for other NYU Law School scholarships: the Grotius, Vanderbilt, Marshall, and Mallal Scholarships.
