Dear colleagues,
I would like to draw your attention to an event to be held in Istanbul next week (Friday, June 27):
THE OTTOMAN BALKANS: A SYMPOSIUM IN HONOUR OF MACHIEL KIEL.
Papers on various aspects of the theme will be given by Rossitza Gradeva, Zeynep Ahunbay, Grigor Boykov, Ilknur Kolay, Stephen Lewis, Kemal Kutgun Eyupgiller, Mariya Kiprovska, and Maximilian Hartmuth. The symposium will be held at the Netherlands Institute in Turkey [NIT] (Istanbul-Beyoglu, Istiklal Cd./Nuru Ziya sk. 5; same venue as the Koc University Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations) from 2-6PM. A program will be made available shortly.
I would be grateful if you could circulate this information to lists and scholars to whom this event may be of concern. For questions please contact me (hartmuth@su. sabanciuniv. edu) or Ayse Dilsiz (a.dilsiz@nit- istanbul. org) at the NIT (www.nit-istanbul. org).
Best regards,
Maximilian Hartmuth
