The CRASSH Summer Fellowship programme

Summer Fellowships 2009
Deadline for Applications: 30 January 2009

The CRASSH Summer Fellowship programme is set up to fund scholars from developing countries who wish to pursue a research project in collaboration with Cambridge faculty, who will sponsor the prospective applicant during their stay. Fellowships can be held for a six-week period from 22 June to 31 July 2009. Applicants and their Cambridge sponsors should propose a project specifically related to the research
resources in Cambridge. The deadline for applications for Summer 2009 is 30 January 2009.

Successful applicants are offered a package that includes economy travel costs, accommodation in a college, an office, and a modest subsistence allowance for the duration of their stay. The Centre is not able to provide additional sums for the travel and living expenses of anyone accompanying the Fellow to Cambridge.

Eligibility
This scheme is open to postdoctoral researchers only: applicants must have completed a PhD. Applications are invited from all disciplines in the arts, humanities and social sciences. It is expected that applicants would use the period of the fellowship to work on a project building on existing research for which a period in Cambridge is demonstrably appropriate, or to collaborate in the initiation of new
research that can be carried on in Cambridge after the fellowship period. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a competent grasp of English.

How to apply
Prospective applicants are asked to submit an application by post to the Administrator, CRASSH, 17 Mill Lane, Cambridge CB2 1RX by the deadline, 30 January 2009. Please note that all documents must be written in English. Your application should include:

1. A full CV
2. A short account (approx. 500 words) of how the time in Cambridge would be used, including details of Cambridge research resources to be consulted.
3. A letter from your Cambridge sponsor outlining the research project and your role in it, to be sent direct to the Centre.
4. In addition to the letter from your Cambridge sponsor, two letters of recommendation from referees who know your work (these can be from outside Cambridge), to be sent direct by your referees to the Administrator, to arrive by the deadline.
