CfA: MA in Peace Studies, Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade

The Faculty of Political Sciences at University of Belgrade and Center for Peace Studies invite all interested students to apply to the first generation of MA program Peace Studies.

In academic year 2009/2010 FPS and CPS will offer this new MA program, unique in Serbia. The program will last one year (two semesters) and will be awarded with 60 ECTS. Lectures will be held in Serbian.

Through this is interdisciplinary program students will be provided with theoretical insights on nature of conflicts in contemporary societies and strategies of their nonviolent resolution, they will also develop critical thinking and ability to analyze conflicts and the implications of their prevention; in addition they will be introduced to the practical skills for nonviolent resolution of conflicts, which is necessary both in private and public spaces.

The application deadline and the start of the lectures will be announced soon in the official Call for Applications for the Faculty's postgraduate programs.

Tuition fee will be 98 000 RSD and limited number of scholarships will be offered.

Faculty of Political Sciences at University of Belgrade (FPS) was founded in 1968 as a first educational- scientific institution of this kind in Yugoslavia. Today the Faculty is engaged in education and research in fields of political science, international studies, journalism and communications, social policy and social work. It's academic staff consists of over 80 lecturers and it regularly hosts international and domestic guest lecturers.

Center for Peace Studies is a research center established in 2008 at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade. The Center's research activity is concerned with a wide range of issues related to war and peace. The Center strives to promote the values of peace and nonviolence, and also to focus on understanding conflicts, both regional and global. It is a dynamic institution where theory and
practice merge enriching the graduate and postgraduate programs the Faculty of Political Sciences offers.
