Commemorating the 20th anniversary of the fall of Berlin Wall, the Albanian Institute of Sociology (AIS) organizes its first international conference with the topic: “Twenty Years of Democratic Transformations: Albania in East European Context”. We invite papers describing original, previously unpublished research results on the processes of transition in Albania , in a comparative perspective.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Democratic transformation and governance
- EU integration
- Civil society and social transformations
- Economic reforms and sustainable development
- Albanian communities in the region
We encourage the presentations of research that builds on statistical data published by reliable international, regional, national institutes and non-governmental research centers, such as the Index of Human Development (UNDP), index of democracy and freedom in the world (Freedom House), index of public perceptions of corruption (Transparency International) , etc.
The working language of the conference is English. Due to limited funds available, AIS cannot cover the expenses of international participants, who are advised to search for alternative funding. Selected papers will be published in AIS’ Journal “Studime Sociale” (Social Studies).
Please send 250 word abstracts (e-mail attachments) and a brief biographical paragraph to: info@instituti- sociologjise. org entering “AIS conference” in your subject line. A committee of AIS members will evaluate the abstracts and selected authors will be invited to submit full papers.
