Description:
The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Rutgers University seeks an Assistant Research Professor to lead an investigation of hepatic and neuronal differentiation of human embryonic, placental, and adult stem cells. The successful applicant will work with a multidisciplinary team engaged in stem cell engineering and product development, with the end goal of translating the research towards commercializable technology.

Responsibilities include leading a team of investigators versed in 3-dimensional tissue culture techniques, microfluidics, image analysis, statistical analysis, and 3-dimensional modeling/design. The position will require a significant amount of proposal writing and editing.

Qualifications:
The candidate should have a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related area with documented experience in stem cell and tissue engineering, as well as a proficiency in 3-dimensional cultures and microfluidics. The candidate should also have at least three years experience in the pharmaceutical or related industries.

Excellent lab skills, hands-on experience with testing equipment, proficiency in programming (MATLAB), image manipulation and analysis, 3-D modeling (SolidWorks or ProE), computational fluid dynamics, and the ability to publish the research results are expected. Experience in product development and translating research/commercial ization is also highly recommended. Qualified candidates should send electronic files
