2 PhD scholarships and 1 Postdoc: Deep-blue high-power supercontinuum light sources (Due: 12 March 2010)

All projects are mostly experimental in nature and involve the design and test of advanced photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) for the development of high-power supercontinuum light sources with a spectrum that reaches down to 350nm. The Postdoc will be in charge of establishing a new experimental facility for supercontinuum measurements at DTU Fotonik and for measurements of the noise properties of the source.

One PhD project will deal with the measurement of supercontinuum generation in tapered PCFs and comparison with numerics to develop the optimum fiber structure. The other PhD project will focus on the important photodarkening problem with silica fibers exposed to UV light.
