PhD scholarships IT Univ. Copenhagen (spring 2010 intake)

General information:
A successful applicant will be an excellent student capable of conducting research under supervision from the IT University’s faculty members at the highest international level.

The PhD scholarships run for a period of 3- or 4-years depending on the university
degree level of the applicant.

The following qualifications are required:
• 3 year programme: A Master’s degree (5 years of University Studies) qualifies
for a 3-year PhD program.
• 4 year programme: A Bachelor degree (3 years of University Studies) + one
year (60ECTS) of MA exams. The 60 MA-level ECTS points must be transferable
to one of the Master programs at the IT University.

One year of full time studies consists of 1680 hours and equals 60 ECTS points.

How to make a correct application:
Applications must be written in English. All other documents, such as transcripts must be accompanied by a translation in English if not already written in English or Danish.

Transcripts that are not issued by a country of the European Union must be
accompanied by a grade key or an explanation of your local grading scale (in English).

Read the Guidelines for Applicants carefully, and use the ITU application form
when applying.

Enclosures 1-4 are mandatory
Enclosure 5 is recommended
Enclosure 6 is optional
1. Completed application form-must be enclosed in front of the application file
2. Statement of purpose (max. 5 pages)
3. Documentation of previous studies; transcripts, diplomas etc.
4. Curriculum vitae
5. Letters of recommendation and reference are recommended
6. Either the abstract of your MA-thesis or a selected publication

The statement of purpose must be authored by yourself and must include a research
question and main goals, for your potential PhD project.

As an applicant you should specifically address whether or not you have needed
disciplinary/methodological training.

The statement of purpose will be used to determine your abilities of critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and scientific writing.

Interdisciplinary approaches:
For PhD-applicants working with interdisciplinary approaches, including social sciences and humanities perspectives, the statement of purpose should also include a motivated choice of theory and method, and a suggestion of empirical basis of the research.
