The Radiation Physics Programme at Ris€ ¢Ã¸ National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy, Technical University of Denmark, is seeking candidates for a Postdoc position to work on neutron transport simulations for the design update of the European Spallation Source (ESS).

The Radiation Physics Programme is carrying out fundamental and applied research within the areas of retrospective radiation dosimetry, medical and industrial dosimetry, and reactor physics. The programme presently consists of 25 people including Researchers, Technicians and PhD students, engaged in research, innovation and education.

Job description
The successful candidate will join a research project funded by the Danish Agency for Science Technology and Innovation in support of the design update phase of ESS. The design update includes simulation of essential ESS components including the target-moderator and beam extraction system.

The project aims at interfacing Monte Carlo neutron transport codes for hot/thermal and for cold neutrons and applying these in the optimization of the target/moderator and beam extraction system of the neutron spallation source. The project will be undertaken in close collaboration with the ESS organization in Lund, Sweden, and with other European project participants.

Qualifications
The candidate should have a PhD in theoretical or experimental physics with a strong background in computational physics or equivalent.

Salary and terms of employment
The candidate will be employed for a two-year period as a Postdoc. The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union. The place of work is Ris€ ¢Ã¸ DTU in Roskilde.
