Senior Researcher (>10 years of research experience), Academy of Management, Łódź, Poland

The Candidate will be expected to support EEDRI and oversee its activities in areas related to high quality, multidisciplinary research into entrepreneurship and SMEs, and the development of applied policy oriented research leading to building durable, regional partnerships underpinning entrepreneurship and SME development in Polish regions. Within this the following types of activities are foreseen:

1) Providing topical assistance and participation in realisation of ongoing projects and in the preparation of and participation in new European research projects (including FP 6 projects such as Regional Innovation Strategy) in the field of economic and social sciences, in particular entrpreneurship and industrial policy
2) Instituting workshops for the EEDRI staff members aimed at extending skills such as:
- methods of assessing support measures for entrepreneurs and their effectiveness
- building national and international networks in the field of policy oriented research
- complementary skills raising the effectiveness of activities such as: research project management, negotiations, presentation of results etc.
- new areas of competence with respect to policy evaluation methodologies
3) Helping EEDRI network with outstanding EU centres and providing assistance in transforming EEDRI into the Centre of Excellence in entrepreneurship and economic development
4) Providing topical assistance and participation in activities related to building regional partnership designed to foster entrepreneurship and SME development and building an innovative, knowledge based region
5) Acting as mentor to PhD students interested in entrepreneurship and SME development (including PhD students from centres co-operating with EEDRI.

An ideal candidate for the position would be an expert with not less than 10 years of professional research experience and proven expertise in at least one of the below mentioned fields:
1) Regional benchmarking,
2) Transfer of technologies from R&D units into industry - development of pilot projects,
3) Monitoring and evaluation of effectiveness of innovation policies,
4) Development of scenarios of regional development,
5) Technology foresight – qualitative and econometric methods of forecasting,
6) Academic entrepreneurship and spin-offs,
7) Management of research projects,
8) Internationalisation of SMEs.

Furthermore each candidate should have:
- experience in the field of providing public authorities with information and analysis necessary to develop, monitor and evaluate their policies,
- knowledge and international experience in a wide scope of policy oriented research (feasibility studies, policy analysis, explorative studies, sector analyses; development and analysis of statistical data sets and economic models etc.),
- experience in developing and using robust policy evaluation methodologies (qualitative and quantitative evaluation methodologies) and in undertaking commissioned research that directly contributes to policy development,
- experience in involving in co-operation different national and regional actors (businesses, business representatives, governing authorities, research organisations),
- organisational and managerial skills,
Good knowledge of English is compulsory.

5200 euro/month gross (includes employer’s and employee’s contributions to full social security coverage; net value - c.a. 3100 euro/month; E101 Form required to discharge social security scheme contributions) plus travel and mobility allowances
