Doctorate in Economics (Siena, Italy)

Scholarship / Financial aid: 10 grants are available
Date: the academic year 2007-2008
Deadline: 15 May 2007

Announcement follows:

The Dottorato di Ricerca in Economia Politica (Doctorate in Economics) at the University of Siena trains students to do research in economics over a four year programme. Most of our former students are currently following an academic career in an Italian or foreign university, or are working for research-oriented public or private institutions.

The first two years are devoted to courses. After a first training in Mathematics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics, a full menu of specialized courses is offered. It is our conviction that a full understanding of economic phenomena is favoured by a pluralistic view of economics; hence our constant attention is on exposing the students to different theoretical points of view.

The courses are held in English.

Fees
At present, no contribution to tuition costs is required. The University reserves the right to adopt different measures.

Financial Support
The 10 most qualified candidates (as resulting from the admission list) are awarded a grant. The grant comprises a yearly allowance of € 10 561 (€ 10 068 net of social security contribution) for the whole duration of the Doctorate course (4 years maximum). The grant is increased if the student undertakes a period of visiting researchship in a foreign academic institution.

Students must pay a regional tax for the Right to University Study, according to Regional Law no. 4 of 3rd January 2005.

It is not possible to cumulate the grant with other scholarships received on the same basis, of equal or larger amount.
