Project Description:
The Organic and Biological Mass Spectrometry (OBMS) Group in the Chemical Sciences Division (CSD) at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) currently has an immediate opening for a research scientist with particularly strong skills in tissue imaging and high throughput analysis. The research will involve the use and development of novel surface sampling and ionization methods coupled with mass spectrometry. Extensive knowledge of atmospheric pressure ionization sources and metabolism studies would be beneficial. The successful candidate will be able to work well within a team of experienced scientists. The successful candidate will be expected to participate creatively in program development and proposal writing for
existing and new sponsors and to initiate new research directions.

Qualifications:
This *position* requires a Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, biology or a related field with significant formal training and hands-on experience in mass spectrometry instrument development. A strong record of research accomplishments and publications and the ability to work in a team environment are required. Excellent oral and written communications skills in English are required; presentations of scientific results at national meetings and their publication in peer-reviewed journals is expected.
