The Behavioural Pharmacy Research Laboratory (BPRL) is situated within the School of Pharmacy, University College Cork. Its goal is to better understand the complexities of non-adherence to medications in both the community and hospital settings. The laboratory is directed by Dr. Laura Sahm and is one of the central constituents of the Pharmaceutical Care Research Group at UCC. Currently there is an opening for the following postgraduate position:

Understanding the constructs why patients fail to take medications in the prescribed manner is critical for the improvement of healthcare outcomes. A PhD position is available focussing on the development of sociological and psychological research models to study patients' attitudes and subjective perceptions with regard to medication and subsequent adherence to therapy. Candidates should have a 2.1 degree
or higher in Pharmacy, Psychology, Nursing, Social Sciences or Biomedical sciences. An M.Sc. degree is desirable but not essential.
