We are looking for two PhD students and one Research Assistant for a newly founded research group funded by the Emmy-Noether- Program of the DFG at the Institute for Biology III / Albert-Ludwigs- University Freiburg.
Salaries are funded according to TV-L with the PhD positions as part-time position (50%).
Our research group analyses the regulatory network surrounding the Ras/ERK signal transduction pathway and its importance for various physiological and pathological processes, in particular those of oncological relevance. To this end, we apply a broad spectrum of methods ranging from molecular biology over protein biochemistry and proteomics to cellular and in vivo approaches. All successful applicants will have experience in one or several of these methodologies, should show initiative and a certain level of independence, but also enjoy working in a team. Basic English communication skills are desirable. Experience in laboratory organisation is a plus for the Research Assistant position.
For the PhD student positions, preference will be given to candidates that have demonstrated a high level of undergraduate achievement, are keen to acquire and develop novel techniques and have a strong interest in science.
Interdisciplinary studies in the area of signal transduction are conducted in Freiburg with great success since several decades. This is reflected by several Collaborative Research Centres (SFB) with topics on signal transduction, the Centre for Systems Biology (ZBSA) and in particular by the recent success of the University with the projects Centre for Biological Signalling Studies (BIOSS) and the Spemann Graduate School of Biology and Medicine in the German Excellence Initiative. Consequently, our laboratory is embedded in an outstanding research environment with excellent expertise and infrastructure.
Freiburg is the “capital” of the Black Forest and a lively university town located in the Rhine valley shared by Switzerland, France and Germany. The University of Freiburg is an equal opportunity employer.
