EXIT SUMMER SCHOOL 2008

NOVI SAD, SERBIA, 7-9 JULY

The EXIT Summer School takes place over the three days leading up to the internationally acclaimed EXIT FESTIVAL, recognised in 2007 as the BEST EUROPEAN FESTIVAL and described by The Guardian as one of the 12 TOP TRIPS FOR 2008.

Organised by the University of Novi Sad, Serbia's second largest university, the EXIT Summer School provides a great chance for students attending the festival to learn more about the HISTORY AND CULTURE of Novi Sad, Vojvodina and Serbia more generally.

The 3-day programme includes an exciting line up of lectures and seminars, tours and cultural events. In the morning students will receive a lecture from a leading specialist on a particular theme. This will take place at the University of Novi Sad, which is located close to the centre of the city and near to the EXIT Camp. This will be followed, in the afternoon, by an excursion to a site of relevant historical and cultural significance.

DAY 1 - MONDAY 7 JULY - SERBIAN HISTORY

Afternoon Excursion to BAC (and dinner)

Leaving Novi Sad around 2p.m. Sightseeing Franciscan Monastery, ruins of Turkish hamam, ethno exhibition "Cradle of Backa", middle age fortress - with the view from Dijon tower, orthodox monastery Bodjani. Dinner in a fish restaurant.

DAY 2 - TUESDAY 8 JULY - VOJVODINA

Afternoon Excursion to FRUSKA GORA (and dinner)

Leaving Novi Sad around 3 p.m. Visiting monasteries of Krusedol and Novo Hopovo. Dinner in Monastery dining room.

DAY 3 - WEDNESDAY 9 JULY - SERBIA AND YUGOSLAVIA

Afternoon Excursion to SREMSKI KARLOVCI (and wine tasting)

Leaving Novi Sad around 3 p.m. Sightseeing of the old baroque town: Patriarchy, Orthodox Church, Catholic Church, Gimnasium, magistrat, peace Chapel. After that, wine celler of family ivanovic for wine tasting and the Honey museum. Return to Novi Sad around 8 p.m.

The fee for the 3 days is 150 Euros.

(This covers tuition and excursions. Participants are responsible for arrange their own travel and accommodation, and for purchasing their own tickets for EXIT.)
