Description The European Institute of Romania (EIR) was established in 2000 to meet the acute need of expertise in European affairs. It has the role to dynamise Romania's preparation for EU membership.
With this end in view, the European Institute of Romania assists the public administration, business comunity and civil society in taking on the requirements deriving from Romania's actual integration into the European Union.
The European Institute of Romania is a „think tank” covering research, training, translation and communication.
In these areas, the European Institute of Romania:
- draws up impact studies on Romania's accession to the European Union;
- trains civil servants in European affairs;
- co-ordinates the translation of EU legislation into Romanian and of relevant Romanian legislation into working languages of the European Union (a database containing translated acquis is available on the EIR site);
- organises pertinent debates on European issues.
Relevant information on the activities of the European Institute of Romania is available at http://www.ier.ro (use the Internet Explorer browser only).
