PhD Student - Cell Death and Gene Therapy Research, National University of Ireland, Galway

The Molecular Therapeutics Group, National Centre for Biomedical Engineering Science of the National University of Ireland, Galway seeks applicants for a PhD student position in cell death and gene therapy research. The project aims at deciphering molecular mechanisms of cell death and to develop better cancer therapies.

We seek highly self-motivated and enthusiastic individuals with an interest in apoptosis, gene therapy and cancer research.

The successful applicant should hold a good degree (B.Sc., M.Sc. or equivalent) in a relevant subject. A strong background in one or more of the following areas is essential: Cell and Molecular Biology (e.g. DNA-cloning, cell culture), Biochemistry (e.g. protein purification, 2D Gels and analysis), Virology and Vectorology (in particular AAV), Antibody Technology (e.g. monoclonal antibody production, bi-functional antibodies), Immunology (FACS analysis and sorting), and in-vivo Cancer Models.
