extends the deadline for submission of applications for the interdisciplinary postgraduate studies in:

GENDER STUDIES

The Masters Program in Gender Studies is a two year interdisciplinary postgraduate program, with the aim to educate students on methods, theories and concepts, necessary for the study of gender, general and specific contexts, as well as to teach students how to conduct the research within this interdisciplinary area. The MA Program aims to contribute to the establishment of network of experts who are prepared to work in domestic, regional, international, academic, governmental and non-governmental institutions, with the common motive to promote gender research, gender interdisciplinary knowledge and gender equality within their communities. The structure of the Program emphasizes regional approach in the study of gender.

Teaching staff and study subjects:
Study subjects are: Gender Theories; Gender and Human Rights; Gender and Politics; Gender and Balkans; Gender and Development and particular seminars which will address gender aspects within other scientific fields. In addition, course Research methodology in the field of gender studies is the part of teaching curriculum. Besides the teaching staff from the University of Sarajevo, professors from numerous
universities of South-East Europe, European Union and wider will participate in the program.

Application procedure:
Applications for this MA program are accepted from persons who hold a university degree, are fluent in one of the official languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Bosnian, Serbian or Croatian) and in English language, are strongly motivated and have good computer skills. Relevant work experience in this field may be an
advantage. There are no restrictions in relation to the citizenship of the applicants, if abovementioned conditions have been fulfilled. The Didactic Council of this MA Program will select the successful candidates on the basis of submitted applications and interviews. Applicants are required to submit the following documents:
- Certified copy of the university diploma
- Original or certified copy of the university transcript
- Curriculum Vitae
- A letter of motivation (in the form of essay, length 3 pages, in English)
- Document that confirms active knowledge of English language (TOEFL, IELTS or certificate from the SOROS School for Foreign Languages are preferred)
- 2 letters of recommendation (at least one academic)

Expected date of start of the Program:beginning of October 2008. Lectures will mainly take place during weekends in the Center for Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Studies of the University of Sarajevo (CIPS).

Tuition fees:Students financially participate in realization of the Program with 5,000 KM (2,500 euros). MA thesis defense costs are included in this price. This amount can be paid in five installments. In addition, program implementation is co-financed by donors mentioned below. CIPS can provide you with the contact details of the banks in Bosnia and Herzegovina which provide for student loans.

Scholarships: The MA Program provides for two kinds of scholarships:
- 5 (five) scholarships that cover tuition fees. The decisive criteria to be taken into consideration when deciding on the allocation of the scholarships shall be, but not limited to, the following: academic excellence, regional representation (for example candidates from Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Macedonia etc), social eligibility (socially disadvantaged groups), motivation for the program.
- stipends for travel and accommodation (in Sarajevo during the days of lectures) for the students who live outside of Sarajevo

In order to apply for the scholarships the candidates are required to submit the
documents confirming that they fulfill one or more criteria.
