The UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) is seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow for the Serbian/Croatian language. The Teaching Fellows will also contribute to supporting the students' independent learning.
This will be fixed term appointments to cover a maternity leave period which is expected to start in January 2010 and run for 12 months. The successful candidate will in the first instance be offered an appointment for the 2009-10 academic session, which will run until mid-June 2010. This appointment will carry FTE (Full Time Equivalence) of 70%. It is further anticipated that there will be need to extend the appointment to cover the first term of teaching in 2010-11, which would run from mid-September to mid-December 2010. The FTE offered for the second appointment will be determined by the number of courses to be taught and would be confirmed nearer the time.
The annual salary will be the Academic Grade 7 or 8 ( from £35,239 to £46,403 inclusive of London Allowance) pro rated for part time.
Applicants should have a native-speaker' s command of the contemporary Serbian/Croatian language, with an in-depth knowledge of current trends in the society and culture of Serbia and Croatia. They must also have a fluent command of written and spoken English. Candidates should have experience of teaching Serbian/Croatian as a second language for both undergraduate and postgraduate university programmes, ideally gained by teaching in the British education system.
