Description:
Two positions (a post-doctoral fellow and an engineer) are available in the Lerner Research Institute at the Cleveland Clinic. The research projects are related to the biomechanics and rehabilitation of the hand and upper limb. The positions involve interactions with members in various basic science and clinic departments such as bioengineering, rehabilitation, and orthopaedics. An applicant should (1) have a PhD
degree or a Master's degree with strong research experiences, (2) have academic background in biomechanics, biomedical engineering, kinesiology, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, orthopaedics, neuroscience, or other closely related disciplines, and (3) demonstrate a strong interest in studying biomechanics and motor control of the hand and upper limb.

Expected work for this position includes some of the following: performing experiments with human subjects and cadaveric specimens; using motion analysis systems; being familiar with robotic technology, programming with Matlab, LabVIEW, and others; collecting, analyzing and interpreting experimental data; constructing biomechanical and mathematical models; and helping prepare manuscripts and reports. The positions are to be filled as soon as possible. Initial appointment will be two years with possible extension.
